GK Systems, Inc. serves the measurement science (metrology) business community with a variety of services including consulting, writing, training, assessments and audits, and more.
We specialize in services that are needed by small businesses (such as small calibration or testing laboratories) to help them achieve conformance to standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 or ISO 9001.

President and Principal Consultant
Graeme C. Payne is widely known in the metrology community. He has been working in product testing since the late 1970s, in calibration since the early 1980s, and in quality management systems since the mid-1980s. He frequently speaks on these subjects at local and regional meetings, and at national and international conferences. In addition to conference papers, he is also a contributor to ASQ’s Quality Progress magazine, and was one of the major contributors to The Metrology Handbook, sponsored by the ASQ Measurement Quality Division (MQD) and published by ASQ Quality Press in 2004.
Professionally, Graeme has worked in production calibration labs and calibration standards labs, manufacturing testing and environmental effects testing of finished products. His experience is in the aerospace and defense area – but those industries use products from almost every other sector. Major accomplishments include
- Initiation of statistical process control methods and participation in interlaboratory measurement comparison programs as a government calibration standards laboratory
- Team member developing and implementing the ISO 9001:2000 registration of the electronic calibration lab of a major airline
- Major contributor to The Metrology Handbook
- Participated in development of the ASQ Certified Calibration Technician program and examination
Graeme is a Senior Member of ASQ and a Charter Member of the ASQ Measurement Quality Division, and an active volunteer in the Society. He is also an Individual Professional Member of NCSL International (NCSLI) and an active member of several NCSLI technical committees. He is a veteran of the US Marine Corps and also served in the US Air Force Reserve.
